Catania's Magma museum to host new Pegaso sculpture

The Magma open-air contemporary art museum in the Librino district of Catania will receive a new sculpture titled ‘Pegaso - Il Cavallo alato’ (Pegasus - The Winged Horse) by artist Antonello Bonanno Conti. The work has been donated to the community by the Fondazione Antonio Presti.

The inauguration is scheduled for October 13, 2026, in front of the Campanella Sturzo Comprehensive Institute. The project, named ‘La Porta di Pegaso’ (The Gate of Pegasus), involves a participatory process where local children and mothers contributed 5,000 artifacts to be placed along the new installation.

According to Antonio Presti, the project is part of a ‘politics of beauty’ aimed at social integration and personal development through art. The sculpture, constructed from reflective steel, is intended to provide a sense of wonder and connection for the residents of the neighborhood.
