Catanzaro Hospital Site Debate: Fratelli d'Italia Calls for New Facility in Pugliese‑Ciaccio Area
Fratelli d'Italia held a coordination meeting in Catanzaro with regional officials and party leaders to discuss the location of a new hospital. The party urged that the new facility be built in the Pugliese‑Ciaccio area rather than in Germaneto, arguing that the former offers existing public land, reduces urban sprawl and avoids further depopulating the city centre. In a party statement the group noted, “Non esiste alcun progetto concreto e credibile che individui una nuova destinazione per il presidio Pugliese capace di garantire un ruolo sanitario, economico e sociale paragonabile a quello che l’ospedale svolge oggi.” The proposal also includes plans for a multi‑storey parking structure, improved road links and possible surface‑metro lines to support both the hospital and surrounding facilities. Fratelli d'Italia criticized the lack of a credible financing plan and warned that an ill‑chosen site could have severe economic and social repercussions for the city.
