Catenanuova: Organized gang uses excavator to steal ATMs

A highly organized criminal group carried out a targeted heist in Catenanuova, located in the province of Enna, Sicily. The perpetrators used heavy vehicles, including semi-trucks, to block the main access roads to the town, effectively preventing law enforcement from responding quickly to the crime.

During the operation, the group utilized an excavator to forcibly remove both ATMs located in the town center. The noise from the mechanical operation alerted local residents, who raised the alarm. However, the suspects managed to flee the scene before the Carabinieri arrived.

Authorities are currently investigating the direction of the escape and have not yet determined the total value of the stolen funds. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the town and surrounding escape routes to identify the individuals involved.
