Cateno De Luca unveils first twelve pioneer candidates for Sicily project
Cateno De Luca, leader of the Sud chiama Nord movement, presented the first twelve "pioneer" candidates of the "De Luca Sindaco di Sicilia" initiative at a press conference in the Sala Piersanti Mattarella of Palazzo dei Normanni. The pioneers – Giusy Badalamenti, Francesco Bondì, Antonio De Luca, Loredana Falcone, Giovanna Stefania Munafò, Mauro Pantò, Salvina Profita, Claudio Sala, Claudia Serio, Alfredo Siino, Salvatore Testaverde and Ivan Trapani – have signed up to build a network of local administrators, civil‑society representatives, professionals, entrepreneurs and volunteers that will back a so‑called "Government of Liberation of Sicily." The project plans to field up to four competitive electoral lists for the upcoming Sicilian regional elections, aiming to gather at least 500 supporters in Palermo, Catania and Messina, 300 in Agrigento, Trapani and Siracusa, and 100 in Enna, Caltanissetta and Ragusa by 30 November. Lists are to be finalised by 31 October, with August devoted to regional organisation. De Luca has indicated he may seek the Sicilian governorship, either as an independent candidate or through an alliance with a larger coalition. He also clarified that Andrea Mineo will not stand for mayor of Palermo but will take a role in the project’s regional organisational structure.
