Sicily hosts cultural forum and tax‑incentive meeting to boost regional development
On 8 July, the Association Diacronie organised a cultural event in Gela titled “Anfore & Petrolio”. Professor Deborah Paci led a discussion on Sicilian identity, historic myths and the modern image of the island, with participation from the mayor of Gela, the municipal culture assessor and local artists.
On 3 July, the mayor of Taormina, Cateno De Luca, met with the Knights of Labor of Sicily to explain the recently approved Super ZES, a special tax‑incentive zone intended to make the island’s productive sector more competitive. The discussion highlighted the need for rapid implementation of the fiscal benefits to attract investment and create jobs.
Both events reflect a broader push by Sicilian authorities to combine cultural promotion with economic incentives to stimulate growth across the region.
