Cateno De Luca rallies southern Italy for autonomy ahead of 2027 election

In Valenzano (Bari), Cateno De Luca, leader of the Sud chiama Nord movement, addressed a regional assembly together with party president Laura Castelli. He called for the South to “raise its head” against Rome‑centric policies, promoted the “Super Zes” investment tool to attract capital and close infrastructure gaps, and urged extending the model to the entire Mezzogiorno and Sicily before the 2027 regional elections.

During a subsequent visit to Campania, De Luca met Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, who described him as “a great mayor” and hinted he could serve as a consultant. De Luca responded that he was “honoured by the words” and reiterated his goal of governing the South directly, not as a figure imposed from above.
