Cateno De Luca resigns from Sicilian Budget Commission

Cateno De Luca, leader of Sud chiama Nord, has resigned from his position on the Budget Commission of the Sicilian Regional Assembly (ARS). De Luca stated that his decision was made to allow space for the Controcorrente group, despite what he described as a betrayal by Ismaele La Vardera.

De Luca explained that the resignation follows a meeting of group leaders where attempts to vote on a new commission structure were blocked by certain groups. He emphasized that his departure is not a result of pressure, noting that Sud chiama Nord earned two seats on the commission due to receiving 500,000 votes in the last regional elections. He characterized the move as an effort to avoid 'unnecessary theatrics' and 'palace games' that do not serve the Sicilian people, who require a focus on essential services.
