Cateno De Luca unveils 10‑point plan for Palermo

Cateno De Luca, leader of the Sud Chiama Nord movement, presented the programme “Una marcia in più per Palermo” at a press conference in the regional assembly. The ten‑point plan calls for a financial‑budget overhaul of the city, reorganisation of the municipal administration, improved public services, stronger urban security, decentralisation through new municipalities, public‑private investment schemes, urban regeneration, development of peripheral districts, promotion of Palermo as the Mediterranean capital and a clearer metropolitan area definition, plus a crackdown on illicit activities.

De Luca emphasized that the focus is on a new method of governance rather than a specific mayoral candidate. No name was announced, but the movement said a candidate would be presented on 4 October. The rollout includes eight thematic press conferences scheduled from late July through September, involving local politicians, former regional deputies and community figures.

The initiative is positioned as a strategic alternative ahead of the 2027 regional and municipal elections in Sicily, aiming to build a “method” of administration that can be extended beyond electoral slogans.
