Cathay Group receives multiple aviation awards and commits HK$150 billion to investment
Cathay Cargo has been named Cargo Operator of the Year at the Air Transport World 2027 Airline Industry Achievement Awards. This marks the fourth time the carrier has received this specific accolade since 2023, with previous wins in 2023, 2025, and 2026. The award recognizes the company’s focus on technology, sustainability, operational excellence, and customer service.
In a separate achievement, Cathay Pacific was ranked among the top three airlines globally at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2026. The airline also received awards for ‘World’s Best Cabin Crew’ and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.
To support these service standards and expand operations, the Cathay Group has committed approximately HK$150 billion (US$19.12 billion) toward fleet expansion, cabin and lounge upgrades, and digital innovation. Cathay Cargo plans to modernize its freighter fleet with eight Airbus A350F aircraft to complement its existing 20 Boeing 747Fs. Additionally, the group is adding a leased Airbus A330 converted freighter to be operated by Air Hong Kong on regional and mainland Chinese routes.
