Catherine Ringer laid to rest in Paris alongside partner Fred Chichin
Catherine Ringer, the iconic singer and voice of the French duo Les Rita Mitsouko, was laid to rest on Saturday at the Montmartre Cemetery in Paris. Ringer passed away on September 14 at the age of 68 following a battle with cancer.
Although her family requested a private ceremony, hundreds of fans gathered outside the cemetery to pay their respects. The service was marked by significant musical tributes. Her son, Raoul Chichin, accompanied the coffin with a guitar performance of the duo’s 1984 hit “Marcia Baïla.” Additionally, artist Rahim Redcar performed a piece by Queen, “Who Wants to Live Forever,” during the ceremony.
Ringer was buried alongside her longtime partner and musical collaborator, Fred Chichin, who died in 2007. The ceremony was attended by numerous prominent figures from the French arts and music scenes, including Matthieu Chedid, Alain Souchon, and actress Josiane Balasko. During the service, actress Andréa Bescond also delivered a moving tribute to her friend.
