Catholic Church in Brazil promotes ethical dialogue for 2026 elections

The Catholic Church in Brazil is emphasizing the importance of dialogue and ethical awareness ahead of the 2026 elections. Through the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), the institution has released an official message advocating for a political process focused on citizenship, human dignity, and the common good, rather than ideological hostility.

To support this initiative, the CNBB’s National Center for Faith and Politics has launched a training resource titled ‘Elections 2026: democracy, synodality and the common good’. This material encourages community prayer and ethical reflection using the ‘Conversation in the Spirit’ methodology, inspired by Pope Francis’s synodal guidelines. The movement is being disseminated through various ecclesial communities and movements, including the Focolare Movement, which seeks to promote politics oriented toward fraternity and unity.
