Catholic lay groups hold national assembly in Goiânia and provincial meeting in Teresina
From June 4‑7, the Diocese of Cruz das Almas sent representatives to the 44th General Assembly of Brazil's National Council of Laity (CNLB) in Goiânia, where lay Christians discussed their role in the Church and society. The assembly marked the ten‑year anniversary of a key CNBB document on lay participation and featured workshops, prayers and discussions on evangelisation and social engagement.
Between June 5‑7, lay members of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary gathered in Teresina for an International Provincial Meeting of the Guadalupe Province. Delegates from several Brazilian states and from Bolivia participated in formation sessions, cultural activities and leadership elections, reinforcing the identity and mission of lay members within the congregation.
Both events illustrate ongoing efforts by Catholic laity in Brazil to deepen their involvement in ecclesial life and broader community work.
