Caulonia assessor Antonella Ieraci rejects conflict‑of‑interest accusations

Antonella Ieraci, the assessor for Caulonia, has denied accusations from the municipal minority councilors that she holds conflicting interests due to her involvement with the local Civil Protection Association. Ieraci cites a formal request for suspension from all association leadership roles in July 2022, which was approved unanimously, and a complete resignation from any elected positions in the association on 20 March 2026, followed by a registration of that resignation with the tax office on 9 April 2026. She stresses that these steps removed any potential conflict and that the vice‑mayor publicly confirmed the absence of any unresolved conflict after her resignation.

Opposition parties, however, maintain that a systemic overlap persisted throughout the council term, pointing to her simultaneous membership on the association’s board and municipal delegations that managed funding streams. They argue that the documented interactions reveal multiple instances of possible misuse of public resources and call for further scrutiny.
