CazéTV bet ads suspended by Conar during 2026 World Cup
The Brazilian Advertising Self‑Regulation Council (Conar) issued a provisional injunction on 26 June ordering the suspension of three betting advertisements – from KTO, Betnacional and Bet365 – that were shown on CazéTV during live broadcasts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The measure was taken after consumer complaints and an investigation by the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon). Conar said the ads combined real‑time odds with presenter commentary, risked misleading viewers about the probability of winning, and did not clearly identify the promotional content. The council’s relator noted, “O relator deferiu medida liminar ontem (26/6), recomendando a sustação da divulgação dos anúncios…”. The suspension remains in effect while the case is examined by Conar’s Ethics Council.
CazéTV responded that it had already begun implementing the changes recommended by Conar, adopting a more conservative, traditional advertising format and affirming compliance with Brazilian law and the use of only licensed betting operators. The platform also said it would submit a detailed response to Conar within the stipulated deadline. The episode highlights regulatory scrutiny of betting promotion during major sporting events in Brazil.
