CBI arrests Jammu and Kashmir fireman for bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Nitish Singh Jamwal, a fireman with the Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services, for accepting a bribe. The arrest occurred in Udhampur after the CBI laid a trap to catch Jamwal as he received Rs 15,000 from a Katra hotel owner.

The investigation began following a complaint alleging that Jamwal had demanded Rs 40,000 to process and issue a fire no-objection certificate (NOC) for the hotel. Following negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 15,000, which led to the official's apprehension.
