CBI arrests key Mahadev betting app accused Abhishek Kumar

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Abhishek Kumar, a key wanted accused in the Mahadev online betting app scam. Kumar was apprehended at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad upon his arrival from Dubai.

Investigations indicate that Kumar was actively involved in operating online betting and gambling under the ‘Mahadev Book’ brand. His roles included coordinating panels, collecting funds, and using illegal earnings to purchase real estate in Dubai. During a search following his arrest, authorities seized incriminating materials that allegedly confirm his active role in the operation alongside other primary accused individuals, such as Saurabh Chandrakar and Shubham Soni.

After being presented in a Hyderabad court, Kumar was granted a three-day transit remand before being moved to a Raipur court, where he received a two-day police custody remand. The CBI has filed eight charge sheets against 100 individuals, including promoters, panel operators, hawala operators, and government employees. Efforts to extradite other fleeing promoters continue, with seven red corner notices and two extradition requests already issued.
