CBI arrests three in Jammu and Kashmir agriculture bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three individuals in Jammu and Kashmir for their involvement in a bribery scheme related to agricultural subsidies.

The arrests include Rajan Sharma, a Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO); Abhilashi Sharma, an Agricultural Extension Assistant (AEA); and Ashok Kumar, a private individual. The investigation began after allegations surfaced that the SDAO demanded Rs 35,000 from a beneficiary to release funds under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

Following a sting operation, the CBI caught the AEA and Kumar red-handed while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The SDAO was subsequently arrested at his residence. The investigation is ongoing.
