Cáceres, Spain faces forest fire and arson attack on residence
A forest fire broke out in the Puerto de los Castaños area of Extremadura, prompting the evacuation of the villages of Casas de Millán and Grimaldo (Cañaveral). Residents were confined to their homes while emergency crews worked to contain the blaze. By Sunday, many inhabitants returned to their houses, describing extensive damage to property and surrounding vegetation, with flames reaching the doors of some homes.
In a separate incident in the same province, an arson attempt was reported in Aldea del Cano. Suspects placed a burning cardboard near a curtain, causing a partial fire that damaged the fabric but did not spread inside the dwelling. The homeowner filed a complaint, and the local mayor, Miguel Salazar Leo, condemned the act and called for witnesses to come forward as the Civil Guard opened an investigation.
