Spain implements various regional heritage and infrastructure restoration projects

Various municipalities in Spain are undertaking significant heritage restoration and infrastructure projects. In Palma, work has begun on the Puig de Sant Pere wall using traditional ‘tapial’ (rammed earth) techniques to ensure historical compatibility. Additionally, the city has awarded over 2.2 million euros for improvements to the Bellver Castle access points and its surrounding natural environment.

In San Fernando, the local government has launched a 4.24 million euro rehabilitation of the 18th-century Casa Lazaga, intended to house municipal services. Furthermore, the city has announced plans to allocate funds in 2027 to draft a recovery project for the historic Casa de la Cruz Roja.

Other regional efforts include the conservation of mural paintings and the southern facade of the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba to address structural issues and moisture damage. In Cáceres, the restoration of the Torre de la Yerba is currently facing delays due to the discovery of unexpected historical reinforcements during the recovery of the original wall structure. Finally, in Palma, preliminary works have started on the Son Castelló roundabout to alleviate traffic congestion in the Son Castelló industrial area.
