Cádiz COAC 2027 announces 157 participating groups

The registration period for the 2027 Official Contest of Carnival Groups (COAC) in Cádiz has closed, with an initial count of 157 participating groups. This total includes 106 adult groups, 23 youth groups, and 28 children's groups. This represents a decrease from the 180 groups that participated in the 2026 edition.

The draw for the performance order is scheduled for November 8 at the Palacio de Congresos.

Among the participants, the Seville-based chirigota ‘El marío de turmana’ has announced structural changes for the 2027 contest. Carlos Nevado will take over lyric writing duties solo following the departure of José Antonio Gobea. Additionally, Jesús Melero ‘el Bola’ will replace Sergio Gallardo ‘Cuartokilo’ as the group's musician.
