Fortaleza police shoot two adolescents filming simulated robbery
Two adolescents, aged 14 and 16, were shot by military police in Fortaleza, Ceará, while filming a 'novelinha'—a social media content piece simulating a robbery. The incident occurred in the Parangaba neighborhood after witnesses reported an active robbery involving armed individuals on a motorcycle.
Upon arriving at the scene, police observed a passenger pointing what appeared to be a firearm at pedestrians. Officers reacted by firing, hitting both teenagers. Subsequent investigations revealed that the weapon was a simulated firearm and the entire event was a staged enactment for social media. The teenagers were taken to the Instituto Dr. José Frota (IJF), where they underwent surgery and are currently in stable condition.
