Cecotec and Volkswagen debut new safety‑focused gear for electric bikes and scooters

Cecotec released the BrainGuard Flash helmet for e‑bike and scooter riders. Priced under €45, the helmet incorporates rear flashing lights and a rear‑mounted LED that can be activated from a handlebar‑mounted remote, allowing cyclists to signal turns without removing their hands. It also features a front light, USB‑C charging and a lightweight, adjustable construction for daily urban use.

Volkswagen, together with specialist n+, unveiled a premium electric bicycle that includes the industry's first fully integrated rear‑view camera, called Smart View, which streams a live feed to a discreet handlebar display. The bike also integrates a radar system that warns of vehicles in the blind spot and an LED light strip that changes colour—red for braking and amber for signalling—to enhance visibility to other road users. Both products aim to raise safety standards for micromobility users by combining automotive‑grade technology with everyday cycling equipment.
