Cedae Opens Rio Water Monitoring Center; Sabesp Starts Pipe Project in São Paulo

Cedae inaugurated the Centro de Monitoramento Ambiental (CMA) in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, to enhance 24‑hour surveillance of the Guandu, Guapiaçú and Macacu river basins that feed the metropolitan water supply. The facility uses 36 cameras, drones, floating sensors and satellite‑type spectral imaging to track up to ten physical‑chemical parameters, sharing data with state agencies such as Defesa Civil, SEAS and Inea. The center aims to detect risks early and conduct environmental crisis simulations through 2027.

In Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo, councilor Felipinho César attended the launch of Sabesp’s pipe‑installation works in the Piracuama neighbourhood. The project, prioritized through coordination with mayor Ricardo Piorino, follows Sabesp’s 2030 universal water‑and‑sewage plan and promises treated piped water to improve health and living standards for local residents.
