Celaya shooting targets residential homes in Ejidal neighborhood

Armed individuals launched a series of gunshots at residential properties in the Ejidal neighborhood of Celaya, Guanajuato, early Thursday morning. The attack occurred around 6:25 to 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Ejido de la Machuca and Ejido San Felipe streets.

The gunfire caused structural damage to the facades and metal gates of at least two homes. Despite several people being inside the residences at the time of the attack, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Witnesses noted hearing consecutive bursts of gunfire and the sound of tires screeching, but they remained indoors due to fear and could not identify the attackers or their vehicle.

Security forces, including the Municipal Police and elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), arrived at the scene to secure the area. Investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings from the roadway. The State Attorney General's Office has been called to conduct a forensic investigation and initiate a formal inquiry to identify those responsible.
