Cellid joins Qualcomm program to develop Snapdragon-based AR glasses
Japan-based Cellid Inc. has joined Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon START program to accelerate the development of augmented reality (AR) glasses. By utilizing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon START platform and software development kits (SDKs), Cellid aims to help device manufacturers reduce development time and costs for Snapdragon-based AR products.
As part of this initiative, Cellid unveiled Crux, a binocular, full-color AR glasses reference design. The Crux design is powered by the Snapdragon AR1+ Gen 1 platform and features Cellid’s proprietary optical components, including wide-field-of-view waveguides, display modules, and optical engines. The system is designed to provide high-resolution, bright imagery while maintaining a form factor similar to conventional eyeglasses, targeting high-end applications and extended reality platform development.
