Cellid and Qualcomm AR glasses development partnership
Overview
Cellid Inc., a developer of displays and spatial recognition engines, joined Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon START program to accelerate the development and commercialization of personal AI devices, specifically augmented reality (AR) glasses. The partnership aims to provide reference designs that allow manufacturers to bring AR products to market more efficiently and at a lower cost.
Following the announcement of the partnership, Cellid unveiled Crux, a binocular, full-color AR glasses reference design. Powered by the Snapdragon AR1+ Gen 1 platform, the Crux design incorporates Cellid’s proprietary optical components, such as wide-field-of-view waveguides, display modules, and optical engines. The system is intended to provide high-resolution, bright imagery within a form factor similar to conventional eyeglasses, targeting high-end applications and extended reality platform development.
