Celtic players address high expectations and recent form
Celtic players Kasper Høgh and Benjamin Nygren have addressed the high expectations and recent challenges at the club.
Kasper Høgh, Celtic’s £11 million record signing from Bodø/Glimt, has faced scrutiny after scoring in only one of his nine appearances. While his only goals came in a hat-trick against Kilmarnock, he has since gone seven consecutive matches without scoring. Høgh noted that the club is currently utilizing him more as a traditional target man rather than in his preferred role as a penalty-box striker. Despite the difficult start, Høgh stated that Celtic is the ‘perfect club’ for him and a significant experience for his development.
Midfielder Benjamin Nygren, who has recorded eleven goal involvements in 12 appearances this season, also commented on the pressure at Parkhead following a series of three consecutive losses, including two defeats against Rangers. Nygren expressed that the expectation to win every match is precisely why he chose to play for a major club, stating, ‘If you don’t do it, then it’s not good enough.’
