Celtic players address high expectations and recent form

Overview

Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren and record signing Kasper Høgh have addressed the ongoing pressure and scrutiny at the club following a difficult period of form.

Nygren, who has recorded eleven goal involvements in 12 appearances this season, recently commented on the club’s recent streak of three consecutive losses, which included two defeats against Rangers. He noted that the intense expectation to win every match is a primary reason for his move to a major club, stating, ‘If you don’t do it, then it’s not good enough.’

Kasper Høgh, the club’s £11 million signing from Bodø/Glimt, has also faced scrutiny after scoring in only one of his nine appearances. While he previously recorded a hat-trick against Kilmarnock, he has since gone seven consecutive matches without scoring. Høgh explained that the club is currently utilizing him more as a traditional target man rather than in his preferred role as a penalty-box striker, but maintained that Celtic is the ‘perfect club’ for him and a significant experience for his development.
