Cemig launches innovation programs for startups and energy efficiency
Cemig has launched two major initiatives to drive innovation and energy efficiency in the Brazilian electrical sector.
Through the fifth cycle of the Inova Cemig.Lab program, the company is seeking startups to address 13 strategic challenges. These include using data to predict electric vehicle charging profiles, automating energy restoration time calculations, and predictive management of field teams. Selected projects may receive up to R$ 1.6 million to test solutions in real-world environments.
Additionally, Cemig has opened a R$ 150 million public call for energy efficiency projects for 2026. This fund is available to various sectors, including industrial, residential, commercial, and public services. The program encourages modernization through more efficient equipment and sustainable generation, such as solar photovoltaics. A notable feature of this cycle is the inclusion of battery energy storage systems to support the energy transition in Minas Gerais.
