Cemig announces R$ 150 million for energy efficiency projects

Cemig has launched a public call for energy efficiency projects for 2026, allocating R$ 150 million to promote energy transition and reduce waste. The funds are distributed across seven categories: Industrial (R$ 40 million), Residential/Condominiums (R$ 35 million), Commerce and Services (R$ 25 million), Public Power (R$ 15 million), Public Services (R$ 15 million), Rural (R$ 10 million), and Public Lighting (R$ 10 million).

Eligible projects must request between R$ 300,000 and R$ 9 million and focus on modernizing consumer units through more efficient equipment or sustainable generation, such as solar photovoltaics. A notable addition for the 2026 cycle is the inclusion of energy storage systems using batteries. For residential condominiums, the funding is structured such that a portion of the resources must be returned to the utility.

Additionally, Cemig is seeking startups through its Inova Cemig.Lab program to address 13 technical challenges in the electric sector. This innovation cycle offers projects worth up to R$ 1.6 million, focusing on areas such as electric vehicle charging profiles, predictive maintenance, and grid automation.
