Cemig expands Sacramento substation, boosting power supply in Minas Gerais

Cemig has completed an expansion of the Sacramento substation in the Triângulo Mineiro region of Minas Gerais. The project, funded with R$ 14.4 million, doubled the substation’s capacity from 15 MVA to 30 MVA, allowing it to serve previously constrained loads and new condominium developments.

The upgrade is part of the "Mais Energia" programme and is expected to benefit about 35 000 residents in the municipalities of Sacramento and Conquista. Additional work at the nearby Pai Joaquim substation—installation of a voltage regulator, a new 12.5 MVA transformer and a 13.8 kV feeder—will serve roughly 24 000 people.

Cemig is also installing 5 kW photovoltaic units at a local technical school and at the state school Escrita Carolina Maria de Jesus, and replacing about 50 street‑level lamps with LEDs in several municipal schools, further improving energy efficiency in the area.
