Cemig expands Sacramento substation, boosting power supply for 35,000 in Brazil

Cemig completed an upgrade of the Sacramento substation in Minas Gerais' Triângulo Mineiro, investing R$ 14.4 million to double its capacity from 15 MVA to 30 MVA. The expansion is expected to secure electricity for roughly 35 000 residents of Sacramento and nearby Conquista, supporting new housing projects and local businesses. Vice‑president of Distribution Marney Antunes said, "Estamos dobrando a capacidade de 15 MVA para 30 MVA, o que possibilita atender cargas reprimidas e condomínios em surgimento."

The project also included upgrades at the nearby Pai Joaquim substation, adding a 12.5 MVA transformer and a new 13.8 kV feeder to serve Perdizes and Sacramento, benefiting about 24 000 people. As part of Cemig’s energy efficiency program, 5 kW photovoltaic systems were installed at a local technical school and a municipal school, and around 50 streetlights were replaced with LEDs.
