Cemig rolls out solar‑subscription discounts and agro battery‑storage program in Minas Gerais
Cemig, through its subsidiary Cemig SIM, launched the “Economia para os Mineiros” initiative that lets residential and commercial customers in Minas Gerais cut their electricity bills by up to 26 %. The discount is delivered via a solar‑by‑subscription model that uses credits from Cemig’s solar farms; no on‑site panels or construction are required and enrollment is fully digital.
In a separate effort, Cemig opened the “Cemig Agro Solar 24h” program, allocating up to R$ 50 million to support battery‑energy‑storage system (BESS) projects on rural properties in the state. Selected applicants will receive a bonus of at least 60 % for installing photovoltaic plants combined with storage, improving energy security for agricultural operations. Proposals are accepted until 26 June 2026, with results expected by 31 August 2026.
