Cemig's Substation Supplies Power to 200,000 in Minas Gerais

Cemig and the Minas Gerais state government inaugurated the Belo Vale substation, a 15 MVA facility complemented by 27 km of new distribution lines. The project expands electricity capacity and improves system reliability for roughly 200,000 residents of Ouro Preto, Belo Vale, Moeda and Nova Lima.

The new infrastructure also strengthens the region’s industrial base, benefitting companies such as Minerinvest, Green Metals and Rosa do Vale. The substation is part of a R$53 million investment aimed at modernising the central Minas Gerais grid, which falls within Cemig’s broader R$70 billion plan (2019‑2029) to expand, digitise and automate the state’s electricity network, including 200 new substations and 1.5 million smart meters.
