Centenarian celebrations honor Stella La Pusata in Barrafranca and Angela Bonventre in Medicina

On 2 August 2026, Stella La Pusata, known locally as “Zi Stillina”, marked her 100th birthday in Barrafranca. The ceremony was held at the Itria church and attended by three generations of family, local officials, and community members. Mayor Giuseppe Lo Monaco praised the event, noting its significance for the town and presenting a commemorative plaque.

The same day, Angela Bonventre, born 28 July 1926 in Alcamo, celebrated her centenary in Medicina, Emilia‑Romagna. The surprise party gathered relatives from Sicily and local dignitaries. Vice‑mayor Dilva Favale awarded her a medal and flowers on behalf of the municipal administration, highlighting the historic migration link between Alcamo and Medicina that shaped the region’s agricultural heritage.
