Italian towns honor senior milestones

Building on earlier ceremonies, June 2026 saw Alassio present a parchment and commemorative volume to the Swiss-origin Rickenbacher family for five decades of tourism, while Senigallia honoured centenarians Anita Giraldi and Renato Rosati. In mid-June, Sicilian Naso celebrated 105-year-old Rosaria Pizzino with a mayor-led lunch, and Cantello in Lombardy recognised 108-year-old Rosa Rasi. The following day Foglianise marked Maria Pedicini’s 100th birthday with the national tricolour ribbon, and Sardinia’s Teulada honoured Dr. Antonietta Camba, also 100, for her medical career.

Early July brought further tributes: Serrara Fontana welcomed centenarian Maria Schiano, and Ruinas presented a plaque to Mariangela Setzu. On 11 July, Lambrugo commemorated railway-master and partisan Angelo Lanfranchi’s centenary, while Lamon celebrated 110-year-old Luigia Maria Cavallari. By mid-August, Brivio celebrated Celestina Paveri’s 106th birthday at the RSA Frigerio nursing home with music and cake. Conversely, the community of Falzè di Piave mourned the passing of 101-year-old Tarcisio Liberale Breda, a founding member and dean of the local Alpini group, who was regarded as a ‘living historical memory of the 20th century’.
