Central Africa: Ebola outbreak in DRC and legislative updates in Gabon

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, National Deputy Geneviève Inagosi Bulo Ibambi Kassongo has raised alarms regarding the Ebola virus epidemic in Haut-Uélé province. Since the official declaration of the Bundibugyo strain outbreak on July 10, 2026, security issues and community resistance have hindered medical response efforts. Inagosi is conducting a mission to increase community awareness and combat misinformation.

In Gabon, legislative and humanitarian activities are being reported across different regions. In Oyem, Deputy Éric Kevin Edzang Ndong briefed constituents on recently adopted laws, including new regulations on land property rights, a revised nationality code aimed at securing national identity, and a law regarding the digitization of public archives.

Additionally, in the Ngounié province, Deputy Angélique Ngoma provided a donation of medical supplies to the Mboukou dispensary. The contribution follows an accident she experienced in the village one year ago and aims to address a long-standing shortage of medicine in the local healthcare facility.
