Central Bank of Iran reports slowdown in inflation acceleration

The Central Bank of Iran has reported a slowdown in inflation acceleration for the month of Mordad (August). Mohammad Majed, the Deputy of Monetary Policy at the Central Bank, stated that the monthly inflation rate reached 3.7 percent, indicating a continuing downward trend in inflation acceleration that began three months ago.

This follows a peak in monthly inflation of 8.5 percent in Ordibehesht (May). Majed attributed the previous upward trend to various economic factors, including liquidity growth and inflationary expectations stemming from previous conflicts and economic blockades.

The Central Bank noted that its monetary and precautionary policies, implemented since early Khordad (May/June), are beginning to show results in controlling inflation acceleration. The institution remains committed to these control measures while providing targeted financing for damaged sectors and production chains through supply chain financing tools.
