Overview
Since early July 2026 Iranian market bulletins have broadened price reporting to cover official and free‑market rial rates, foreign‑currency values, vehicle prices, gold, steel, construction costs and, more recently, livestock and second‑hand gold. On 11 July the authorities released official livestock rates and quoted second‑hand gold at 17.243 million tomans per unit. By 23 July the rial weakened further, with the official dollar at 1,414,300 rials and the open market around 1.92‑1.95 million, while car prices rose to 5.99 billion rials and the Bahār‑Āzādī gold coin reached 185.2 million rials; Brent crude stayed above $101 per barrel. On 27 July steel rebar and raw‑steel prices increased and the yield on Islamic Treasury bonds (AKHZA) climbed to 38.3 %. The 1 August bulletin recorded the free‑market dollar at 192,000 rials versus an official 152,000 rials, a 26 % gap, euro above 242,000 rials, modest gold‑coin gains and a 19,000‑point drop in the Tehran Stock Exchange index. By 3 August a parliamentarian warned that the rial’s depreciation could spark hyperinflation, noting July’s year‑on‑year inflation at 87.9 % and an annual rate of 66 %.
