Central Bank of Nigeria to auction N700bn in Treasury Bills

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), acting on behalf of the Debt Management Office (DMO), is conducting its second and final Nigerian Treasury Bills (NTB) auction for August 2026. The auction offers a total of N700 billion across three different tenors: N100 billion for 91-day bills, N100 billion for 182-day bills, and N500 billion for 364-day bills.

The auction is being held via the Dutch auction system. Authorized Money Market Dealers are required to submit bids through the CBN S4 Web Interface. Bids must be in multiples of N1,000, with a minimum bid requirement of N50,001,000. Dealers may submit bids for themselves, for non-Money Market Dealers, or on behalf of the public.

Results are expected to be announced on the day of the auction, with allotment letters scheduled for issuance the following day. This follows a previous August 12 auction that saw N4.4 trillion in subscriptions, significantly exceeding the N700 billion offered at that time. Market participants are monitoring the auction to determine potential trends in Treasury Bill yields.
