Central Bank of the Dominican Republic marks 79th anniversary
The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic is commemorating its 79th anniversary, marking its historical role in establishing the nation's monetary and economic sovereignty. Founded in 1947, the institution allowed the state to transition from a heavy dependence on the US dollar to exercising direct control over its own monetary, exchange, and credit policies.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Governor Héctor Valdez Albizu led a ceremony to recognize 279 employees for their professional dedication. The honorees were recognized for between 5 and 35 years of service, with the Governor emphasizing that their accumulated experience is vital for maintaining the institution's technical capacity and productivity.
