Central Bohemia faces multiple fires due to drought and wind
Extreme drought and strong winds have triggered a series of fires across the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic, complicating harvest activities. In Borotice, a third-degree fire alarm was issued as flames spread rapidly through a field and grass area measuring approximately 500 by 10 meters, requiring dozens of rescuers and water shuttle operations.
Other recent incidents include fires near Podlesí u Příbrami and Volenice, where stubble and roadside ditches caught fire. In the Vickovice area, firefighters responded to two separate stubble fires covering roughly 50 by 20 meters, though no damage was reported.
Due to the high risk of fire, Regional Governor Petra Pecková has declared a period of increased fire danger. Current restrictions in the region include bans on lighting fires near forests or fields, using pyrotechnics, releasing sky lanterns, and driving motor vehicles on field and forest roads, with exceptions made for agricultural machinery.
