Central Government employees seek increase in bonus calculation ceiling

Employee organizations representing central government workers are requesting an increase in the calculation ceiling for the annual Non-Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus). Currently, the bonus is calculated based on a maximum monthly salary limit of ₹7,000, which results in an approximate payout of ₹6,908 per eligible employee.

The National Council Staff Side Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has submitted a request to the Cabinet Secretary to raise this limit to align with current minimum wage standards. Proposals suggest increasing the ceiling to between ₹18,000 and ₹21,000. If the Ministry of Finance approves this change, the bonus amount could increase nearly threefold, potentially reaching approximately ₹20,723 per employee.

This adjustment would primarily benefit Group B (non-gazetted) and Group C employees. While the demand has been formally presented, the government has not yet issued a final decision regarding the increase for the upcoming festive season.
