Central Java authorities distribute water aid amid drought

Authorities in Central Java, Indonesia, are providing clean water assistance to residents facing prolonged drought conditions in several districts.

In Pemalang Regency, the government has distributed over 3.5 million liters of water since June to approximately 93,000 people affected by the dry season. Acting Regent Nurkholes and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) have targeted villages in the Pulosari district, including Pulosari, Siremeng, Pagenteran, and Batursari. BPBD officials report that they are delivering an average of 125,000 liters of water daily through collaborations with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Baznas, and the local water utility (PDAM).

Similarly, in Tegal Regency, the Tegal Police and the Jatinegara District Police, in collaboration with the local PMI, delivered 5,000 liters of clean water to the Dukuhbangsa village in Jatinegara District. This specific distribution aimed to support 110 families, totaling 336 residents, as part of an ongoing effort to address basic needs during the water shortage.
