Central Java awards Rp8.34 billion in scholarships to 73 santri

The Central Java Provincial Government has expanded higher education access for Islamic boarding school students and teachers through the 2026 Santri and Pesantren Caretaker Scholarship Program. A total of 73 recipients were awarded grants amounting to Rp8.34 billion for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies.

The scholarship recipients include 15 students pursuing studies abroad in countries such as China, Egypt, and Yemen, while the remainder are enrolled in domestic universities. Notable placements include studies in Computer Science and Technology in China and Dentistry at Diponegoro University.

Central Java Vice Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen emphasized the importance of integrating STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) with Islamic values. He urged students to master modern technology and artificial intelligence to serve their communities, noting that pesantren require professionals in fields such as medicine and agriculture.
