CEO outlooks reveal disconnect in employee trust and economic confidence

Recent reports highlight significant gaps in corporate sentiment and leadership perception. According to The BCG CEO Insomnia Index, while nearly 90% of CEOs express confidence in their leadership, only 46% of employees agree. Experts suggest that improving trust requires leaders to focus on emotional needs—such as respect, support, and connection—rather than just functional benefits like pay and flexibility.

In the Netherlands, the KPMG Global CEO Outlook indicates that Dutch executives are more skeptical of the global economy than their international peers, with only 54% expressing confidence in global economic prospects. Despite this, 72% of Dutch CEOs remain optimistic about the domestic economy, and 90% expect their workforce to grow over the next three years. Key challenges identified by these leaders include supply chain resilience and a shortage of necessary skills, particularly as AI necessitates a greater focus on human judgment and critical assessment.
