Roda de Berà and El Vendrell demand flood prevention measures
Following recent heavy rainfall, local authorities and residents in Roda de Berà and El Vendrell are calling for structural improvements to prevent future flooding. Mayors Pere Virgili and Kenneth Martínez have identified railway lines and the N-340 highway as significant barriers that obstruct water drainage toward the sea. They are urging Adif to increase infrastructure permeability and install more underpasses and drainage channels.
In El Vendrell, the local residents' federation is demanding a technical review of drainage systems and emergency protocols, specifically questioning the performance of pumping stations and the capacity of the Riuet Acoma-ruga system.
Simultaneously, significant railway disruptions have affected the Rodalies network. Infrastructure incidents have caused service interruptions on the R4 line between Sabadell Sud and Manresa, impacting Terrassa and Sabadell. Additionally, issues near Castellbisbal have affected seven different lines, including the R2 Sud and several regional services, leading to reduced frequencies and the implementation of alternative bus services.
