Cerdanyola experiences heavy flooding and rainfall

Cerdanyola has experienced two intense periods of heavy rainfall within a single week. The most recent downpour, occurring between Saturday and Sunday, accumulated 168.8 liters per square meter.

The rising Sec River caused flooding in the basement and the -1 level of the Biblioteca Central after breaking through a door. Local Mayor Carlos Cordón inspected the affected areas alongside the Local Police to assess the damage.

Despite the weather, the Cerdanyola International Blues Festival has rescheduled suspended concerts and will proceed with its weekend programming. Featured performers include Ana Popovic, Ster Wax, and D. K. Harrell.

Additionally, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) has officially inaugurated the 2026-2027 academic year.
