Flooding in Cerdanyola del Vallès
Overview
Cerdanyola del Vallès experienced two intense periods of heavy rainfall within a single week, with the most recent downpour accumulating 168.8 liters per square meter. The rising Sec River caused flooding in the basement and the -1 level of the Biblioteca Central after breaking through a door.
In response to the damage, the Cerdanyola City Council activated emergency resources. Aigües de Barcelona assisted in the recovery efforts by providing a specialized truck and personnel to pump out water and remove mud and sludge from the library’s exterior and access points. Mayor Carlos Cordón inspected the affected areas and expressed gratitude for the rapid collaboration required to help the city return to normalcy.
