Cerignola hosts seventh historical reenactment of Madonna di Ripalta discovery

Cerignola hosted its seventh historical reenactment regarding the discovery of the Madonna di Ripalta. The event follows an oral tradition dating back to 1172, commemorating the finding of the icon in a cave on the Ripa Alta of the Ofanto river.

The procession included participants from Canosa di Puglia, reflecting a historical legend involving a dispute between the residents of Canosa and Cerignola over the sacred image. The reenactment featured horses, ox-drawn carts, and various historical figures, concluding with a scenic representation of the icon's discovery at Piazza Duomo.
